Thanksgiving Instant Pot Turkey Bone Broth

An nutritious Thanksgiving leftover staple that you can make in your Instant Pot

Ingredients

  • Carcass from 1 roasted turkey, with clinging meat on bones (From a 12- to 16- pound turkey). If your turkey was 20 lbs or over, use what you can, but you will not be able to fit all of it in your pressure cooker.

If your Turkey was NOT stuffed, then you will need to add:

  • 1 medium onion, peeled and quartered

  • 1 stalk celery, cut in half

  • 1 carrot, peeled

Whether your Turkey was stuffed or not, you will need to include:

  • 2 bay leaves

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • Water (enough to fill the inside of the pot up to the max fill line)

Instructions

  1. Break up the turkey carcass so it fits below the max fill line of your Instant Pot or other pressure cooker.

  2. Add the vegetables if required (onion, celery, carrot), bay leaves, and salt to the pressure cooker pot, then add water to cover by 1 inch, or to the max fill line on the pressure cooker. (About 3 quarts of water).

  3. Pressure cook for 1 hour with a Natural Release: Cook on high pressure for 60 minutes. Let the pressure come down naturally – about 20-30 minutes.
